Dieppe Wal-Mart opens 24/7 for ChristmasChamplain Place store one of 51 across Canada to operate 24 hours from Dec. 18-24By Rod AllenTimes & Transcript StaffAs published on page A1 on December 12, 2006Starting next Monday one of two Metro Wal-Mart stores - the one at Champlain Place off Paul Street in Dieppe - will be open 24-7 for the duration of the pre-Christmas holiday shopping season.

"We know our customers are pressed for time and that the trend these past few years has been for shoppers to delay their Christmas shopping," said David Wood, manager of the Paul Street store."This year, every day leading up to Christmas we expect to see more and more customers come through our doors, with longer and longer holiday shopping lists.

"The store is one of 51 among Wal-Mart Canada's 286 stores that will stay open 24 hours a day from Dec. 18 to 24, not closing until 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve."We want to meet our customers expectations of great prices, selection and service," said Wood, "staying open 'round-the-clock in the days leading up to Christmas is one way to do that."Metro's other Wal-Mart location at the Trinity Power Centre will keep regular hours through the season. Store-by-store details of extended-hour schedules and 24-hour operations are posted at Wal-Mart's Canadian web site, www.wal-mart.ca, said a press release from company headquarters in Mississauga, Ontario.
