Selling Mary Kay?
Have you or someone you know ever sold Mary Kay products? I'm thinking about it... yeah yeah, I know. I only started wearing make up again on a daily basis not even two weeks ago. I'm not in a make up sect or anything. It's just a coincidence that a friend asked me if I'd be interested. I spent last night googling about it and found a bunch of women who love it on yahoo answers (love that site btw.) and a bunch of women who despise MK on pinktruth.com. I'd link but I'm crampy, cranky is not the word, and my left elbow is killing me. It started 2-3 days ago and it makes my whole arm hurt. I dont even know what happened to it. Why is it that I have all my mother's diseases but that she only started having them in her mid forties ? I'm not even 28 yet give me a break.

Can't say I've ever had one of those "from home" businesses, but the one thing that makes me leary about them is the fact that with most you have to invest a fair bit to get started. Like you have to buy your "kit" to show to customers etc. so before you even start, you have expenses for inventory. And then the question is, how much do you really earn? How much do you get to keep and what percentage goes to the company? And do you have to keep up a certain level of sales or what happens if you don't sell anything for a month or two?
I sold Beauticontrol. I LOVE their products. For me, Beauticontrol was nothing more than a debt disaster. I spent money to get the kit, have inventory, attend numerous required classes, none of which were free - and the truth of the matter is - I do NOT like poaching my friends to have "classes" or "makeovers" or "spa days" or any of that nonsense. Nope. I don't. And not only that - if you want to make money - you HAVE TO WORK. Forget free nights and weekends. They are spent giving classes, makeovers, and spa days. They are spent at stores in the mall handing out samples and doing skin tests and giving away your product in the hopes of getting more business. And because MOST WOMEN WORK - it's all done at night and on weekends. HATED it. Shortly after I cancelled, my director quit. She started keeping track of the hours she was working and the money she was making and realized she was making $5.00 an hour. She got a part time job as a barsita at Starbucks while her kids were in school, brought home more money, and her nights and weekends were free.
I'm not a Mary Kay fan. I actually like Avon a lot more - there are just more options and it's cheaper!!
I tried Mary Kay at various points and I never liked it. My mom has sold Avon for 30 years - I hated that, too , when I was younger. These days, I really like it, and the "Mom discount" isn't too bad. *wink* The Anew line is great, and I like the Mark makeup.
Hi, I know you have seen the ex-consultants who are over on Pink Truth. I run MK Rules Blog and we all love doing Mary Kay. You don't have to get tons of inventory (that is your personal choice) and you make the most commission of any other home based biz. Check out my site sometime.
